Top brands make a deep impression.

A recent survey jointly conducted by several news media showed that the most popular brands of cosmetics for Chengdu women are L'Oréal, Olay, Maybelline, Lancôme, Avon, Dior, Chanel, Shiseido, Aupres and Estée Lauder - in descending order.


L'Oréal
ranks first among the so-called mass brands, while Lancôme tops the high-end spectrum.


As one of the first to enter the Chengdu market, L'Oréal has won the hearts of many local female consumers with its international brand name appeal and affordable prices.


Compared with similar surveys in Beijing and Shanghai, cosmetics consumption in Chengdu is above average.


In terms of annual consumption, 59% of the women spent over Rmb1,000 while 21.5% spent over Rmb3,000 a year on cosmetics.


Mass brands are more popular in Chengdu than in Beijing and Shanghai. The survey also shows that Chengdu women favour established brands rather those that are foisted on them as trendy and new.
